Redlich’s recently successfully settled a claim for damages for pain and suffering for a 57-year-old leading teacher who suffered a severe psychiatric injury during the course of her employment.
She was directly threatened with violence by a student; involved in stressful interactions with challenging and aggressive students and their families; not supported by the department to handle such a situation; subjected to intimidating behaviour by school management, and bullying and harassment by colleagues.
As a result, our client was diagnosed with post-traumatic stress disorder, adjustment disorder, anxiety and depression, requiring ongoing treatment and medication. She has been unable to work since October 2015 due to her injury.
We settled our client’s claim for lost earnings until retirement age, without the need for litigation.
